About Us
Josh Hurwitz is a licensed Attorney and the Founder of Florida Mediation Hub. Josh has over 15 years of dispute resolution experience and has successfully mediated more than 1,000 disputes ranging in value from $10,000 to over $1 billion. He has been recognized for his outstanding work by the National Law Journal which named him one of the top 100 ADR Champions in the United States.
Josh began his legal career in litigation which provided him excellent insight into why most cases settle. In fact over 85% of civil litigation is settled or dismissed without a trial. If you don’t settle before litigation, you often settle afterward to avoid a lengthy and expensive appeals process. Clients often find litigation is too expensive and creates too much uncertainty - which is why they often engage a mediator at some point during the process in order to mitigate their risks, costs, and uncertainty. Josh realized this over 15 years ago and has focused his practice on mediation, collaborative law, negotiation and arbitration.
Josh focuses his practice on Florida disputes and is also a Federal Mediator. He is an active member of the Florida and Washington D. C. bar.
Josh has extensive training including professional certificates in mediation and negotiations from Harvard University's Negotiation Institute. Josh has also taken the Florida Supreme Court, Circuit mediation course and is a certified Florida Supreme Court mediator.
Josh was an Adjunct Professor at the American University, Washington College of Law; for many years; teaching "Lawyer bargaining" (Teaching rising lawyers how to negotiate settlements). He was also elected to serve as a Section Chair of the Federal Inter-agency Alternative Dispute Resolution Working Group.
Josh has settled disputes involving many Fortune 100 companies, small businesses, and property owners. Assisting individuals with environmental, construction, insurance, contract, land use and other matters.
Josh founded Florida Mediation Hub to make mediation and collaborative law more accessible to individuals, families, and small businesses. It is his belief that too many people spend too much money on trying to win on principle or for justice. Unfortunately, almost no outcome can provide justice or a win on principle. It is often a waste of time, money, and energy. That is why meditation is the answer. We will get to your interests.
